July 20 – 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Martha is doing everything right. She welcomes Jesus into her home. She serves. She works. She’s trying to hold everything together.

And when it gets overwhelming—she does the right thing: she goes to Jesus. But she comes with a plan, not surrender. “Lord, tell Mary to help me.”

She wants Jesus to solve the problem her way. To take her side. To fix it.

How often do we do the same? We come into prayer not to lay things down, but to stay in control. We ask—but with expectations. We trust—but only if things go according to the plan we’ve already written.

But Mary shows another way. She simply sits. She listens. She lets Jesus be Lord—not just in her home, but in her heart.

Jesus doesn’t scold Martha for working. He invites her to something deeper: to choose the better part.

This week, bring it all to Him—your stress, your plans, your hopes. But come with open hands.

You don’t need to work harder.
You need to rest in Him.

Marta está haciendo todo bien. Recibe a Jesús en su casa. Sirve. Trabaja. Está tratando de mantener todo en orden.

Y cuando se siente abrumada, hace lo correcto: va a Jesús. Pero va con un plan, no con entrega. Le dice: "Señor, dile a María que me ayude."
Quiere que Jesús resuelva el problema a su manera, que se ponga de su lado, que lo arregle.
¿Cuántas veces hacemos lo mismo? Entramos en oración no para soltar, sino para mantener el control. Pedimos, pero con expectativas. Confiamos, pero solo si las cosas salen como lo habíamos planeado.

Pero María muestra otro camino. Simplemente se sienta. Escucha. Deja que Jesús sea el Señor, no solo de su casa, sino de su corazón.

Jesús no reprende a Marta por trabajar. La invita a algo más profundo: a elegir la mejor parte.
Esta semana, llévale todo a Él: tu estrés, tus planes, tus esperanzas. Pero ven con las manos abiertas.

No necesitas esforzarte más.
Necesitas descansar en Él.
