July 13 – 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time
We live in a culture that tells us we are the center of the universe—my time, my peace, my goals, my truth. Even when we do good, the question underneath is often: What’s best for me?
But Jesus teaches us to ask something different.
A man lies beaten on the side of the road. Two religious leaders pass by. Maybe they were afraid. Maybe they were in a hurry. But the Samaritan—the one no one expected—stops.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said:
“The first question the priest and Levite asked was, ‘If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?’
But the good Samaritan reversed the question: ‘If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?’”
This week, ask yourself honestly:
Where have I been unwilling to cross the road?
Where have I let fear or convenience keep me from mercy?
God always moves toward the one in need.
This week, let’s do the same—not asking, “What’s best for me?” but “What will happen to them if I don’t?”

Vivimos en una cultura que nos dice que somos el centro del universo: mi tiempo, mi paz, mis metas, mi verdad. Incluso cuando hacemos el bien, muchas veces la pregunta de fondo es: ¿Qué es lo mejor para mí?
Pero Jesús nos enseña a preguntar algo diferente.
Un hombre yace golpeado al lado del camino. Dos líderes religiosos pasan de largo. Tal vez tenían miedo. Tal vez tenían prisa. Pero el samaritano, el que nadie esperaba, se detiene.
El Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dijo una vez:
"La primera pregunta que se hicieron el sacerdote y el levita fue: 'Si me detengo a ayudar a este hombre, ¿qué me pasará?'
Pero el buen samaritano cambió la pregunta: 'Si no me detengo a ayudar a este hombre, ¿qué le pasará a él?'"
Esta semana, pregúntate con sinceridad:
¿En qué situaciones no he querido cruzar la calle?
¿Dónde he dejado que el miedo o la comodidad me alejen de la misericordia?
Dios siempre se mueve hacia quien está en necesidad.
Esta semana, hagamos lo mismo. No preguntemos "¿Qué es lo mejor para mí?", sino "¿Qué les pasará a ellos si no lo hago?"
