December 7 – Second Sunday of Advent
Judgment is real. One day, we will all have to answer for the choices we make in this life. And yet, God does not leave us to face this alone. He offers an abundance of mercy, giving us the chance to turn back to Him every day while we are here on Earth.
Confession is where this mercy meets us. It’s not about hiding our sins or testing God’s forgiveness. It’s about speaking the truth of our lives, naming our faults, and receiving the freedom that comes from His grace. St. Basil reminds us: mercy and judgment go hand in hand. God’s judgment shows the truth of our lives, and His mercy calls us to return, to turn from sin and choose life with Him.
To make a good confession, be honest. Don’t make excuses. Be precise in naming your sins. Remember, this is spiritual warfare: verbalizing our faults breaks the hold they have over us. Confession is not just forgiveness; it is freedom.

El juicio es real. Algún día, todos tendremos que responder por las decisiones que tomamos en esta vida. Sin embargo, Dios no nos deja solos ante esto. Él nos ofrece abundante misericordia, dándonos la oportunidad de volver a Él cada día mientras estamos aquí en la Tierra.
La confesión es donde encontramos esta misericordia. No se trata de ocultar nuestros pecados ni de poner a prueba el perdón de Dios. Se trata de decir la verdad sobre nuestras vidas, nombrar nuestras faltas y recibir la libertad que proviene de Su gracia. San Basilio nos recuerda: la misericordia y el juicio van de la mano. El juicio de Dios muestra la verdad de nuestras vidas, y Su misericordia nos llama a volver, a alejarnos del pecado y elegir la vida con Él.
Para hacer una buena confesión, sé honesto. No pongas excusas. Sé preciso al nombrar tus pecados. Recuerda, esto es una guerra espiritual: verbalizar nuestras faltas rompe el control que tienen sobre nosotros. La confesión no es solo perdón, es libertad.
