April 26 – Fourth Sunday of Easter
“A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.”
In today’s Gospel, Jesus emphasizes that He is the gate. Those who enter through Him—who recognize His voice and follow Him—will not be led astray but will be saved. He is the way, the truth, and the life, and He came so that we may have life in abundance.
Much like the Pharisees, we can struggle to recognize Jesus’ voice. It can become muddled in the rush of daily life—the noise of the news and the constant stream of opinions on social media. In that confusion, we may find ourselves overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, or even doubtful, and begin to believe the lies of the enemy. We can lose sight of the truth and start to believe that we are not worthy of His love and goodness. But Jesus desires that we know His voice, receive His love, and live in the fullness of life He came to give us.
As we continue our journey through this Easter season, set aside 10 minutes of silence each day to listen for Jesus’ voice. Ask Him what He desires for you, and respond with boldness and trust.

«El ladrón no viene más que a robar, matar y destruir; yo he venido para que tengan vida y la tengan en abundancia».
En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos recuerda que Él es la puerta. Quienes entran por Él (quienes reconocen su voz y lo siguen) no se extraviarán, sino que serán salvados. Él es el camino, la verdad y la vida, y vino para que tengamos vida en abundancia.
Al igual que los fariseos, a veces nos cuesta reconocer la voz de Jesús. Puede confundirse en medio del ritmo acelerado de la vida diaria: el ruido de las noticias y el constante flujo de opiniones en las redes sociales. En medio de esa confusión, podemos sentirnos abrumados, ansiosos, cansados o incluso con dudas, y comenzar a creer las mentiras del enemigo. Podemos perder de vista la verdad y llegar a pensar que no somos dignos de su amor y su bondad. Pero Jesús desea que reconozcamos su voz, recibamos su amor y vivamos en la plenitud de la vida que vino a darnos.
