March 8 – Third Sunday of Lent

“He told me everything I have done.”

The Samaritan woman, who was judged by her community, proclaimed this message with joy and amazement after being seen in her fullness. Jesus told her everything she had done out of mercy and compassion, sat beside her in the midst of it all, and offered her living water. As a result, she came to know him as a man, a rabbi, a prophet, and the Lord.

At the well, He pursued her, and she chose to respond.

This choice to be seen, even in her mess, led to her conversion. And she couldn’t keep quiet once she recognized Him as Christ! How easy it would have been for her to ignore Him and miss out on an encounter that would change her life for the better.

There are aspects of our lives that bring us shame and discouragement, and we have the option to either let our imperfections stop us or let Him meet us there instead. We can let Him pursue us, offering us living water, and choose to respond, or we can hide in our mess.

Maybe you go to prayer, and you don’t feel the Lord. In your continued faithfulness, you will see where the true living water comes from. Similar to His encounter with the woman at the well, He wants to be there with you through the whole process. He loves you as you are, and He wants to reveal Himself to you as a man, a rabbi, a prophet, and the Lord.

Will you let him encounter you in your fullness, even if it’s messy?

“Me dijo todo lo que he hecho.”

La mujer samaritana, que era juzgada por su comunidad, proclamó este mensaje con alegría y asombro después de haber sido mirada en su totalidad. Jesús le dijo todo lo que había hecho, no para condenarla, sino con misericordia y compasión. Se sentó junto a ella en medio de su realidad y le ofreció agua viva. A partir de ese encuentro, ella llegó a reconocerlo como hombre, como rabino, como profeta y como el Señor.

En el pozo, Él salió a su encuentro, y ella decidió responder.

Esa decisión de dejarse ver, incluso en medio de su desorden y fragilidad, la llevó a la conversión. Y no pudo quedarse callada cuando reconoció que Él era el Cristo. Qué fácil habría sido ignorarlo y perderse un encuentro que transformaría su vida para siempre.

Hay aspectos de nuestra vida que nos causan vergüenza y desánimo, y podemos elegir: permitir que nuestras imperfecciones nos detengan o dejar que Él nos encuentre justamente ahí. Podemos dejar que nos busque y nos ofrezca el agua viva, y responder, o podemos escondernos en medio de nuestro desorden.

Tal vez vas a la oración y no sientes al Señor. Si permaneces fiel, poco a poco descubrirás de dónde brota el verdadero manantial de agua viva. Así como en su encuentro con la mujer en el pozo, Él quiere estar contigo en todo el proceso. Te ama tal como eres y desea revelarse a ti como hombre, como rabino, como profeta y como el Señor.

¿Le permitirás encontrarte en toda tu realidad, incluso cuando no esté en orden?
