June 29 – Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, Apostles

Your past is not your future. 

Peter denied Jesus in His darkest hour. Paul was a violent persecutor of the Church. One stumbled in fear. The other struck in pride. And yet, these two broken men became saints—pillars of the Church. Jesus didn’t discard their stories. He called and redeemed them. 

Maybe you carry the weight of a moment you wish you could undo—a harsh word, a broken relationship, a compromise you regret. Or maybe you’ve quietly settled into the idea that your chance to make a difference has passed. But the lives of Peter and Paul say otherwise. 

Today, on the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, we don’t just honor two saints—we remember what God can do with a life surrendered. Jesus founded His Church on a rock—not because the rock was flawless, but because it was willing to be formed. A Church built not to preserve the past, but to proclaim the Kingdom. 

“You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church.” It’s not about stability. It’s about sending. 

He met Peter in failure—and called him to feed His sheep. 
He met Paul in violence—and sent him to preach peace. 
He meets you now—and He’s still calling.

Tu pasado no define tu futuro. 

Pedro negó a Jesús en su hora más oscura. Pablo fue un perseguidor violento de la Iglesia. Uno tropezó por miedo. El otro hirió por orgullo. Y, sin embargo, estos dos hombres quebrantados se convirtieron en santos; en pilares de la Iglesia. Jesús no desechó sus historias. Los llamó y los redimió. 

Tal vez tú también cargas con el peso de un momento del cual te arrepientes: una palabra dura, una relación rota, una decisión que lamentas. O quizás te has resignado en silencio a la idea de que tu oportunidad de marcar la diferencia ya pasó. Pero las vidas de Pedro y Pablo nos dicen lo contrario. 

Hoy, en la Solemnidad de San Pedro y San Pablo, no solo honramos a dos santos: recordamos lo que Dios puede hacer con una vida entregada. Jesús fundó Su Iglesia sobre una roca, no porque fuera perfecta, sino porque estaba dispuesta a ser transformada. Una Iglesia construida no para preservar el pasado, sino para anunciar el Reino. 

“Tú eres Pedro, y sobre esta roca edificaré mi Iglesia.” Eso no solo se trata de estabilidad. Se trata de una misión. 

Encontró a Pedro en su fracas y lo llamó a apacentar sus ovejas. 

Encontró a Pablo en la violencia y lo envió a predicar la paz. 

Te encuentra hoy a ti y sigue llamándote.
