Miscarriage and Infant Loss Support

The Moms Ministry at St. Ann’s is dedicated to supporting grieving mothers of any age who have lost children at any stage of pregnancy or early infancy. With the collaboration of several other ministries, we offer support through resources, prayer, fellowship and events. As a group of mothers who have also lost children, we know how painful, and often unspoken the grief can be. Know that you are not alone.

Support & Resources

Miscarriage and infant loss stir up a lot of emotions and questions. Whether you are expecting a loss, currently going through one, or seeking healing from a previous loss, we are here to help.

Some of the support we offer includes:

  • Miscarriage and Care Kits- For those currently experiencing a miscarriage, we have put together kits with items that are both practical and comforting during this trying time.

  • Information- The moms at St. Ann have compiled a helpful document with answers to frequently asked questions regarding the Church’s teachings and specific recommendations for local resources (burial locations, counselors, etc.). Also included are books and podcast recommendations, as well as words of encouragement from fellow St. Ann moms. Whether you are on the journey, or love and want to support someone who is, this document is for you.

  • Someone to talk to* - Talking with someone who has experienced the same type of loss and sharing your story can be very healing. We’d love to match you with another St. Ann mom who can listen to and walk with you through this difficult journey. We also host a casual gathering of moms every couple of months where we pray a rosary together, share stories and have fellowship. (*If you are looking for a licensed professional, request that information in the link below.)

  • Meal Trains- Not only is this type of loss emotional, but it also takes a toll physically. Our group of volunteers would love to provide your family with some meals during this time of grief and healing.

Remembering your Child

During the Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month of October, St. Ann’s offers a beautiful Remembrance Mass. This is not a funeral Mass, but rather a time for families who have experienced a loss to come and remember their baby.

If you have personally experienced a miscarriage or infant loss, or just wish to honor these children and their families, we invite you to come. (Babies and children are always welcome.)

This year, the Mass is on Wednesday, October 18th 2023, at 6pm in the St. Killian Chapel.

Children’s Prayer Garden

Though St. Ann’s does not have a Columbarium or place where you can lay your child’s remains to rest, we do have a beautiful Children’s Garden where you can have a paver engraved in memory of your child. We pray this space is one of peace and solace, where you and your family can come to reflect, pray, and remember your loved one.

Want to help?

Often part of the healing process includes helping others who are going through a similar experience. We are always looking for volunteers to be a part of our team to help with Meal Trains, Miscarriage and Care Kit deliveries or to be a support moms (moms who are trained and matched when individuals reach out, looking for another mom to talk to). If you are interested in helping, please email us at stannmiscarriageandloss@gmail.com.
