August 31 – Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
We live in a world that often feels like a spotlight—where it’s all about me, my likes, my image. Social media can amplify this “eyes on me” culture, pushing us to promote ourselves.
But Jesus calls us to something else.
True honor in His Kingdom comes from humility—not status.
C.S. Lewis said, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.”
The world says, “Promote yourself.” Jesus says, “Take the lowest place at the table.”
Humility isn’t weakness. It’s strength under control.
Jesus humbled Himself completely. It takes courage to serve quietly, listen more, and celebrate others.
Pride blinds us. Even the Pharisees missed Jesus because they put themselves first
On the cross, two thieves showed two paths. One mocked Jesus, demanding salvation on his terms. The other humbly asked to be remembered—and was promised paradise.
This week, choose the lower seat.
No one may notice—but your Father sees what is hidden and will reward you.

Vivimos en un mundo que a menudo se siente como un escenario iluminado—donde todo gira en torno a mí, mis gustos, mi imagen.
Las redes sociales amplifican esta cultura del “mírenme”, empujándonos a promocionarnos a nosotros mismos.
Pero Jesús nos llama a algo distinto.
El verdadero honor en Su Reino viene de la humildad (no del estatus).
C.S. Lewis dijo: “La humildad no es pensar menos de ti mismo, sino pensar menos en ti mismo.”
El mundo dice: “Promuévete.” Jesús dice: “Toma el lugar más bajo en la mesa.”
La humildad no es debilidad. Es fuerza bajo control.
Jesús se humilló por completo. Se necesita valentía para servir en silencio, escuchar más y celebrar a los demás.
El orgullo nos ciega. Incluso los fariseos no reconocieron a Jesús porque se pusieron a sí mismos en primer lugar.
En la cruz, dos ladrones mostraron dos caminos. Uno se burló de Jesús, exigiendo salvación en sus propios términos.
El otro pidió humildemente ser recordado (y se le prometió el paraíso).
Esta semana, elige el lugar más humilde.
Nadie puede notarlo, pero tu Padre ve lo que está oculto y te recompensará.
