June 7th – The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Today, in Deuteronomy, we read about the Israelites' journey through the desert. Though it may just seem like a long, treacherous walk, it was truly a journey of learning dependence on God.

The Israelites moved from slavery in death to life in Christ as they learned to keep His commandments and receive His daily bread (manna). They experienced hunger in the physical and spiritual sense, and they found that He was sufficient for them.

We are invited into a similar relationship with the Lord on our journeys. We all hunger for something that only He can satisfy, yet He gives us our daily manna in the Eucharist. His Body and Blood will save us and sustain us in this life so that we may live with Him forever. We are called to depend on Him as the Israelites did in the desert.

Where in your life do you find yourself hungry for more? How can you invite the Lord into that place so that He may sustain you?

Hoy, en el Deuteronomio, leemos sobre la travesía de los israelitas por el desierto. Aunque podría parecer simplemente una caminata larga y peligrosa, en realidad fue un camino de aprendizaje y dependencia de Dios.

Los israelitas pasaron de la esclavitud en la muerte a la vida en Cristo mientras aprendían a obedecer Sus mandamientos y recibían Su pan diario (el maná). Experimentaron hambre física y espiritual, y descubrieron que Él era suficiente para ellos.

Nosotros también estamos invitados a vivir una relación similar con el Señor en nuestro caminar diario. Todos tenemos hambre de algo que solo Él puede saciar, y Él nos da nuestro maná cotidiano en la Eucaristía. Su Cuerpo y Sangre nos salvarán y sostendrán en esta vida para que podamos vivir con Él para siempre. Estamos llamados a depender de Él como los israelitas lo hicieron en el desierto.
