May 11 – The Voice of the Shepherd

Jesus often compares His relationship with us to a shepherd caring for his sheep. The sheep listen to the shepherd’s voice and follow him. But for us, following the Good Shepherd isn’t always easy. We face moments when it’s hard to hear God’s voice or know what He’s asking of us.

When you find yourself asking, “How do I know what God wants?” here are four steps to help you discern His will:

• Connect: Start by deepening your relationship with God through prayer and the Sacraments. We learn to hear His voice by spending time with Him.

• Conform: Ask yourself: Does this align with Church teaching? God will never ask us to go against what He’s revealed through His Church.

• Confirm: Invite input from people who know and love you well. Can they see fruit in your decision? Can they affirm that it seems right?

• Commit: Finally, make your choice—and then bring it to prayer. Ask the Lord: Do I feel His peace in this decision, or a deeper sense of unrest?

These steps can guide you as you seek God’s will. They’re especially helpful for anyone discerning a vocation, like the priesthood or religious life. But no matter the decision, remember: The Good Shepherd has a plan for you. He is always seeking the lost and walking with the hesitant. You are never out of His reach.

Mayo 11 – La Voz del Pastor

Jesús a menudo compara Su relación con nosotros con la de un pastor que cuida a sus ovejas. Las ovejas escuchan la voz del pastor y lo siguen. Pero para nosotros, seguir al Buen Pastor no siempre es fácil. Enfrentamos momentos en los que es difícil escuchar la voz de Dios o saber qué nos está pidiendo.

Cuando te encuentres preguntando: “¿Cómo sé lo que Dios quiere?”, aquí tienes cuatro pasos que pueden ayudarte a discernir Su voluntad:

• Conectar: Comienza profundizando tu relación con Dios a través de la oración y los Sacramentos. Aprendemos a escuchar Su voz pasando tiempo con Él.

• Conformar: Pregúntate: ¿Esto está en armonía con la enseñanza de la Iglesia? Dios nunca nos pedirá que vayamos en contra de lo que ha revelado a través de Su Iglesia.

• Confirmar: Pide la opinión de personas que te conocen y te aman. ¿Pueden ver frutos en tu decisión? ¿Pueden afirmar que parece la correcta?

• Comprometerse: Finalmente, toma una decision y llévala a la oración. Pregunta al Señor: ¿Siento Su paz en esta decisión, o una inquietud más profunda?

Estos pasos pueden guiarte mientras buscas la voluntad de Dios. Son especialmente útiles para quienes están discerniendo una vocación, como el sacerdocio o la vida religiosa. Pero sin importar la decisión, recuerda: el Buen Pastor tiene un plan para ti. Siempre está buscando a los que se han perdido y caminando junto a los que dudan. Nunca estás fuera de Su alcance.
