Extraordinary Ministers of HOly Communion

In every celebration of the Eucharist, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) share responsibility for distributing the Eucharist in a reverent and orderly manner.

Requirements:

  • An EMHC must be at 16 years old or older (If younger and confirmed please provide a referral letter from Director of Youth Formation.)

  • Have received all the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation);

  • Particpate frequently in the sacrament of Reconciliation

  • Be in full communion with the church.

  • Attend the initial training session for New EMHCs

  • Attend annual trainings.

At St. Ann, we have several EMHC Teams for every Mass time. These teams rotate serving on a weekly rotation (every 2nd or 3rd Sunday). EMHCs are scheduled at their Mass of preference. For example, if you normally attend the 10:00 AM Sunday Mass, you will be assigned to a EMHC Team at the 10:00 AM Mass Time. Your team would serve every 3rd or 4th Sunday. Your participation with your assigned team is expected. You are qualified to serve at any Mass. Follow the sign in process at all Masses.
