St. Ann Pastoral Council
We are in need of a few good members for the St. Ann Pastoral Council.

Jottings from the Pastor

Jottings from the Pastor:
Once again we celebrate Laetare Sunday-Rejoice Sunday, and draw closer to the joy of Easter. It is an exciting time of the year. We just celebrated First Reconciliation for a host of boys and girls who are eager to celebrate First Communion. And many catechumens and candidates are ready to celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. It’s the season for a lot of celebration....I came across this quote: “It has been said that few of us truly become believers before the age of thirty-five, after we’ve had some life experiences. Only then do we begin to see life in a new way, with a different set of eyes.” I don’t quite know what this means, but I think that all can agree that it is the work of a life time to focus more sharply and with more insight as we ponder the faith mysteries. The word from the first reading challenges us: “Not as man sees does God see, because man sees the appearance but the Lord looks into the heart.”...and the Gospel story about the blind man is an occasion to reflect on the many forms that blindness can take. May we be conscious of the following:
Selfishness blinds us to the needs of others.
Insensitivity blinds us to the hurt we’re causing to others.
Snobbery blinds us to the equal dignity of others.
Pride blinds us to our own faults.
Prejudice blinds us to the truth.
Hurry blinds us to the beauty of the world around.
Materialism blinds us to spiritual values.
Superficiality blinds us to a person’s true worth and causes us to judge by appearances.
May God bless us with great insight and open hearts!
